Reservation System in India - A Curse...??

Reservation in common terms refers to an act of reserving, keeping back or withholding.

Introduction

We live in a free country and this freedom is a gift of democracy to us. Our Constitution gives us the right to freedom and most importantly to exercise this freedom in an equitable manner.

In today’s time one of the major roadblocks to this equality is the Reservation System. India being a developing nation is currently facing many challenges and the reservation system being one of them.

Reservation has become the topic of group discussion at present scenario, Every coin has two sides and caste-based reservation too has some advantages and disadvantage. The architect of Indian constitution Dr. B. R. Ambedkar had said that such reservation policy is not good for any country if it continues perpetually. As it is helping many backward classes, it is also affecting forward class people because of the quota system.

Merits of banishment of caste-based reservation

Here are some of the merit that will be seen in the society if caste-based reservation banishes from our country.

Standards of education will improve

Many students of general caste lose their seat in higher education due to the caste-based reservation. Every candidate will get the equal opportunities to grab a seat and no deserving candidate will left out of the opportunities which many times happens.

Government jobs will become approachable for everyone

The caste-based reservation system gives great opportunities to backward classes in government sector but it leaves people of general caste with very little opportunities. If reservation system ends, government jobs will become approachable for each class of the society.

Backward classes will not be criticized

Due to the caste-based reservation, people of general caste criticize backward class and consider them responsible for snatching their opportunities in education and government jobs. The banishment of caste-based reservation will end the criticism of backward class by general class, thus it will create harmony and brotherhood among both the classes.

Current scenario

Reservation system was introduced in our society for the upliftment of backward castes who were dominated by the upper castes and were isolated from the society. But the scenario has changed now. Backward castes are now living their life respectably in the society and excelling in every field. Over the years, there have been many controversies as to banish reservation for backward castes in education and government jobs. People of general castes have always opposed the reservation system as it sometimes hinders them to get deserving things in education and in their career in government sector.

Instead of continuing with reservations infinitely, attempts should be made to make available to people equal opportunities for education and other things. If caste based reservation ends, there will be great impact on the society, both good and bad. Here, we are pointing out some good as well as bad impacts on the society, if caste-based reservation ends.

Conclusion

The real talented people of India, the one who truly deserve to be here are not getting enough job opportunities, better career options making them migrate to foreign countries where they are offered handsome amount for their skills. We are letting other people use our talent rather than using it ourselves for the development of country

Reservation has emerged as one discussion topic. People don’t realize how this has not been reaching masses where it should. Rich and influential backward caste candidates are getting opportunities and benefited from it while poor backward class people. The reservation system is so corrupt and is used in negative way for meeting electoral requirements that it fails to meet its actual propaganda of helping and upraising Dalits and those who are socially and economically backward.
